The challenge
As a healthcare profession, RCPod members have a duty to maintain clinical standards defined by the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council).
As such, there is a continual need for podiatrists to maintain their clinical practice through regular updates and professional developments. RCPod needed a single, centralised learning platform where it could provide its members with the resources to support them in accessing and maintaining up-to-date clinically relevant training content to assist them in their CPD portfolios.
RCPod was wishing to maximise membership access to learning and looked to implement a flexible, modern LMS. Responding to membership surveys, it was looking for a Learning Management System (LMS) platform, where its members could easily access low-cost, high-quality online training content. In addition, RCPod needed an LMS that enabled it to create, offer and organise training content, that would be easy to administer and was intuitive for its members to access and use.
However, RCPod also had to address additional challenges; busy clinical caseloads and increasing demand for clinical care meant that time for engagement in CPD was limited. RCPod had to provide busy clinical staff a way of easily accessing learning content.

The Solution

Because of the flexibility of the Totara platform, RCPod can now be responsive to membership needs by quickly and easily providing new services that they might want. For example, podiatrists were included in the HCPC audit on professional standards and Hubken’s Totara platform was deemed by members to be very useful to deliver the HCPC audit training module, which reduced administrative workload and provided immediately accessible information to members seeking help.
Additionally, the platform facilitates an audit and evaluation trail where content that has been created and used previously can be easily updated, modified and re-delivered based on the quality enhancement cycle.
The Totara platform also makes the administration of the site much easier, centralising all the services that the RCPod provide.
