Everybody Health & Leisure

Everybody Health & Leisure is a registered charity based in Cheshire East that improves people’s lives through physical activity & healthy recreation.

Switching from Moodle to Totara to Deliver Improved e-Learning Outcomes

Everybody operates 17 facilities across Cheshire East, ranging from smaller facilities that are shared with schools, to larger centres receiving a million visits each year.

Everybody’s aim is to provide ‘Leisure for Life’, seeking to make participation in any recreational activity an enduring habit from the earliest years to later life. As a charitable organisation, it is important that Everybody helps improve the health and well-being of local communities, grows an ethical and sustainable business, provides a great customer experience, and develops its people to be the best.

Reporting on training and development for learners

Hubken is delighted to announce that we’ve started work switching Everybody from their current solution to a new Totara Learn LMS

The new system will provide the charity with a single learning platform unifying content creation and distribution, with powerful and automated reporting for the organisation’s large and diverse user base.

The challenge

Although Everybody had an existing platform, they realised that their current system would be unable to fully support their vision in terms of learning and development for the organisation and that they would quickly outgrow the platform. What they needed was a modern LMS that could meet all of their L&D needs, including onboarding, compliance, technical skills, and health and safety training.

Crucially, Everybody was struggling with the inflexibility of their current systems reporting elements. Monthly reporting was a time-consuming, largely manual process, having to transfer data from the system to an HR system and then again to a different reporting tool.

Richard Roeton, Senior Manager, Learning & Development at Everybody Health and Leisure, explains, “Our Moodle platform was simply not providing the reporting functionality or automation required. We need to move away from me having to spend over a day each month simply to pull together management reporting. I want to be able to allow managers to pull reports off the platform itself and have a system of reports being automatically generated into a more visual display via bespoke dashboards.”

The solution

With over 950 staff members regularly engaging with the existing e-learning platform, two other Totara features made Everybody’s decision to transition to a new platform much more straightforward.

Firstly, blended learning is a vital part of the Everybody learning strategy, so Totara Learn’s seminar functionality is a welcome addition. Driven by the COVID-19 pandemic, Everybody has increasingly been shifting from in-person training to remote learning, allowing a much more customised and cost-effective approach to learning.

Secondly, the multi-tenancy and audience management and hierarchy capabilities built into Totara Learn allow the creation of multiple sub-platforms for individual teams and learners. This will allow Everybody to create and deliver much more targeted and personalised training programmes, further increasing engagement across the charity.

Richard Roeton says, “Having already worked with Hubken, we knew that they understood our requirements and would work with us to get the best from our new Totara platform. They’ve always proven to be flexible and get things moving quickly.”

Over the coming months, Hubken will be delivering a robust Totara Learn solution that will meet Everybody’s automation, reporting and multi-tenancy requirements. This will free up stakeholders to focus on content creation and provide much more automated and detailed reporting capabilities that will help save the L&D team significant amounts of time every month. The move to Totara Learn will deliver increased efficiency and effectiveness in addition to the ongoing benefit of retaining more motivated and better-trained staff throughout the organisation.

Lars Hyland, Managing Director of Totara says, “It’s great to see Everybody joining an impressive list of organisations taking advantage of Totara Learning’s platform via Hubken Group, one of our certified Platinum Alliance Partners. Hubken has an excellent record and together we’ll ensure success for Everybody’s training ambitions.”
